Rest a while and enjoy the peace of this place of prayer and worship

Jesus said, ‘Come to me all who are weary and I will refresh you.’ Matthew 11:v28

St John the Baptist, Windsor Parish Church, stands in the shadow of Windsor Castle in Windsor High Street.  The present building celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2022.

The Hunter Organ, one of the best of its kind, and a small dedicated choir enrich our worship. A grand piano is also available for use during services and concerts.

The Church is open every day for prayer and quiet reflection. Many come into the church to light a candle to pray for someone special or to enjoy the peace and quiet of a building in a place where God has been worshipped for many hundreds of years. Around the church you will find prayer stations and a selection of leaflets on prayer and other aspects of the Christian faith, along with prayer cards and information about the church, our services and local groups and charities.

Inside Windsor Parish ChurchWe are a popular venue for visitors to the town.  The church is the civic church for Windsor.  We were fortunate to have hosted the Last Supper Scultpure by Peter Barnes for six months but it has now moved to Dorchester Abbey, between Oxford and Wallingford (it is expected to be there until Spring 2024).

Many features of the church come from the previous mediaeval building that stood on this site.  It is home to a beautiful 17th C painting of the Last Supper, Grinling Gibbons wood carvings and a link to Shakespeare. The church is also a popular venue for weddings.  The 1,000 seat capacity makes the church an ideal location for concerts, school and community events.

The Church is supported by the Friends of the Parish Church who welcome new members; they are kept informed through regular newsletters. Friends' events are held three times a year.

This Church is a worshipping community that seeks to serve God through action, service and prayer.

Everyone is welcome
